This term, our Year 3 students celebrated Healthy Living Day with a series of exciting and educational activities that encouraged them to embrace healthy habits and consolidate their learning from their Topic lessons. The day was packed with creativity, collaboration, and a whole lot of fun, all centred around the importance of nutrition and physical activity.
The day started with a lively “Wake and Shake” session led by the PE Team in the Outer Courtyard. This fun-filled activity got everyone moving and laughing together, energising them for the rest of the day. It was a fantastic way to emphasise the importance of staying active and how much fun it can be to get moving.
Within their classrooms, the students took part in a wide variety of healthy living activities. Fruit painting was a huge success where students were able to create spectacular pieces of artwork reinforcing their knowledge of different fruits and vegetables and showcasing their artistic talents. Students dived into a creative 3D fruit making session using materials like paper, cardboard and recycled items to craft impressive representations of their favourite fruits. The activity sparked teamwork and allowed students to explore their imaginative sides.
To ensure a well-rounded approach to health, the students participated in a Healthy Living Obstacle Course. Set up in the playground, the course included various physical challenges such as jumping, balancing, and running. This activity encouraged teamwork and determination while promoting physical fitness. The laughter and cheers echoed throughout the playground as students completed each station, proving that exercise can be both enjoyable and rewarding.
After all of the physical exercise it was time for the highly anticipated Healthy Dinner Party. Each student brought in a healthy dish to share with their classmates, showcasing an array of colourful fruits, vegetables, and wholesome snacks. The students practised important social skills such as sharing, table manners, and gratitude as they enjoyed their homemade dishes. It was wonderful to see everyone trying new foods and discussing the benefits of each ingredient.
The creative fun continued with a clay fruit-making workshop. Students rolled, shaped, and painted clay to create miniature versions of their favourite fruits. This tactile experience not only honed their fine motor skills but also reinforced the importance of healthy eating in a playful manner. The colourful creations were proudly displayed, showcasing the students’ artistic flair and understanding of healthy living.
Our Healthy Living Day was a huge success, thanks to the enthusiasm and participation of our Year 3 students. They not only learned about the benefits of healthy eating and physical activity but also created lasting memories with their friends. We look forward to seeing how they continue to incorporate these healthy habits into their daily lives. A big thank you to all the teachers who made this special day possible as well as to our wonderful parents for creating such fantastic costumes for the children!
