Academic excellence
There’s no limit to what your child can achieve at The British School of Kuwait (BSK). Inspired by a broad curriculum and outstanding learning opportunities, our students enjoy a premium international school education that’s rooted in the highest British standards.

All our learners – from the Lower Phase through to Sixth Form – follow the internationally renowned National Curriculum of England. Our curriculum offers choice and personalisation, providing a rich experience across an expansive range of disciplines. At IGCSE level, for example, students can choose from 25 subject options, while those who move on to AS and A Level can select from between 16 and 18 subjects. Innovative programmes, such as Power Maths and Read Write Inc, as well as the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), offer even greater choice and flexibility. Such an array of opportunities enables each student to create their own pathway to success, as they immerse themselves in learning that’s built around their talents, passions, and ambitions.

Your child will also reap the benefits of learning in a diverse cultural environment. We carefully integrate the Arabic language, Islamic studies, and social studies into our curriculum, in collaboration with the Kuwait Ministry of Education. This not only encourages bilingualism, but also fosters a deep cultural appreciation, nurturing respectful citizens who are ready for success in our globalised world.

Our commitment to excellence, which includes the very best wellbeing support, sees our students shine academically. In 2023, 54% of our IGCSE cohort achieved grades 9-7, more than double the UK average. Our A Level students, meanwhile, earned 61% A*-B grades, 10% above the UK average. This puts BSK at the forefront of academic quality in Kuwait – and the world.

With exceptional results and a breadth of relevant experiences, our students are perfectly placed to get into – and flourish at – the world’s best universities. Our graduates gain places at top 100 institutions worldwide, including Cambridge and University College London in the UK, Penn State and UCLA in the USA, and the University of Sydney in Australia.

To ensure the highest standards, our academic approach is accredited by the Ministry of Education and British Schools Overseas (BSO). We also actively engage in school-wide professional development opportunities through organisations like British Schools in the Middle East (BSME).

World's best teachers
At BSK, we know the key to delivering an exceptional education is outstanding teachers, which is why we only recruit the most passionate and talented people.

Our predominantly British teaching team brings cutting-edge knowledge and skills to our classrooms. They’re experts in their age phase or subject specialism, and adept at personalising learning to individual strengths, needs, and preferences. This means your child will receive the tailored support, challenge, and level of care they need to excel both in and outside of lessons.

All our teachers hold UK (or equivalent) qualifications. We also handpick and develop the most promising educators through our trailblazing Early Career Teacher (ECT) scheme. In subjects like languages, the arts, and STEAM, meanwhile, our teachers are genuine experts in their fields. They use their specialist knowledge and skills to deliver extraordinary experiences that truly bring learning to life.

Like our students, our teachers are always learning. We prioritise their professional growth and firmly believe in the importance of continuous improvement. Strong collaborations with several leading UK universities provide world-class development opportunities, while innovative training – including a bespoke AI workshop, specialist Early Years training, and wellbeing courses – keep our teachers at the forefront of educational techniques and research.

Through our partnership with Nord Anglia Education, our teachers also have access to first-rate opportunities to develop their skills on the award-winning Nord Anglia University platform.

Exceptional learning experiences
At BSK, learning stretches far beyond the classroom. We offer an array of transformative experiences that will enrich your child’s education and equip them with the skills, knowledge, and values they need to succeed.

From the volcanoes and waterfalls of southern Iceland to the caves and mountains of Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park in Thailand, our students discover the world on thrilling expeditions that bring subject learning to life. Our learners represent BSK with pride at competitions around the world, too, including the Nord Anglia Regional STEAM Festival in Dubai and the BSME Games in Cairo, Egypt. We also organise annual ski and football trips to Europe. These experiences immerse our students in new cultures and environments, creating memories and bonds that last a lifetime.

There’s always something happening on our campus, too. Our awe-inspiring STEAM programme with MIT, for example, will open your child’s eyes to the marvels of science, technology, engineering, arts, and maths, encouraging teamwork, problem-solving, and critical thinking. Our music, drama, and dance programmes are enriched by our partnership with The Juilliard School, the world’s leading performing arts conservatory.

Our students do what they love at a variety of extra-curricular clubs, both at break times and after school. These include drama productions and music ensembles, creative writing workshops, and hands-on engineering opportunities. Led by skilled members of staff, our unique British Schools programme enables our learners to pursue passions as diverse as web development, Lego construction, and fashion design.

Sport is for everyone at BSK, and we organise a host of recreational activities that will get your child moving. These include volleyball, basketball, football, netball, swimming, athletics, and so much more. Competitive sports are a big part of life at our school, too, and our inter-house tournaments and sports days encourage teamwork and sportsmanship. Talented athletes also compete in the country-wide Kuwait Foreign Schools Activities Conference (KFSAC) and International Schools Activities Conference (ISACK) federations, as well as the BSME Games.

Our social purpose
Inspired by our values of Respect, Resilience, Honesty, Empathy, and Courage, our students take part in experiential leadership, service, and community projects that make a real difference. This instils the attributes and outlook they need to become the global leaders of tomorrow.

Our social purpose
Our students have the power to change the world. We see the positive impact their words and actions have every day – and the difference BSK graduates make after they leave us.

From an early age, we encourage our children to take on leadership roles and support their peers, including through our Playground Pals project and Junior Phase Council. In Secondary, our well-established student leadership system makes a tangible difference to life both on and off campus through Social Impact, Wellbeing, Media, Events, and House Committees.

Our Social Impact Committee, in particular, gives our blossoming young leaders a platform from which to shine. Students research, plan, and deliver a variety of charitable activities that benefit our community, from cultural iftar initiatives during Ramadan to Pinktober events for cancer awareness. These activities demonstrate the importance of giving back, while also developing our learners’ teamwork, communication, and organisational skills.

We also offer the prestigious Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, which inspires our students to stretch and grow through physical challenges, volunteering experiences, and community service. This award has become a rite of passage for our Higher Phase students, one which simultaneously builds confidence and independence, while also helping them to stand out on university and college applications.

Our students actively engage with global issues, too, through our thriving Model United Nations (MUN) programme. Through research, debate, and negotiation, our students simulate the workings of the United Nations, taking on the roles of national delegates. This develops critical thinking, diplomacy, and public speaking skills, as well as their understanding of international affairs.

The BSK family
Our vibrant British international school in Kuwait is home to parents, children, and staff from more than 75 countries. Learning here, your child will be part of a warm and welcoming community where they can confidently express their talents, discover new passions, and forge their own route to success.

As a community, student welfare is at the heart of everything we do. We know that happy, healthy learners achieve more, which is why we work so hard to create a harmonious environment where everyone feels safe and supported.

Alongside an expert pastoral care team, we have a variety of age-appropriate wellbeing initiatives in place. These include a team of Upper Department ‘Wellbeing Warriors’ who look out for their peers and a dedicated Kindness Curriculum for Lower Phase students. Allocated areas, such as The Nest in our Lower Phase and Wellbeing Woods in our Junior Phase, provide safe spaces for mindfulness and quiet time.

Our house system creates a strong sense of inclusion and belonging, too. Every student is a member of one of four houses – England, Ireland, Scotland, or Wales – which provide a robust support system and opportunities for friendly competition and camaraderie.

Our sense of inclusion is enriched by the sharing of cultures and traditions. This contributes to the holistic development of our students, as well as bringing parents, staff, and young people together. By embracing cultural diversity through events like our International Day, we can prepare our young people for the global connections and opportunities that will be part of their futures.

The cornerstone of our efforts to provide an exceptional, all-encompassing education is our partnership with you, our parents. We encourage our families to get involved in school life – and have their say on how we do things – through our Friends of BSK association. We also organise parents’ workshops that offer advice on a range of topics.

Close to the coast and with excellent transport links, BSK is easily reachable from anywhere in the city or country.

Set across 25,000 square metres, our campus is home to specialist teaching spaces that play host to a myriad of exceptional opportunities. Known for being technological trailblazers, we implement tech-driven learning in all our classrooms and labs, harnessing the power of iPads, interactive whiteboards, and the latest software to create an engaging and future-focused environment.

Our specialist facilities, which include a STEAM maker space, science labs, and design technology areas, play host to exhilarating 21st century learning experiences. Here, the latest education technology – including 3D modelling and robotics equipment – will give your child a chance to get hands-on, as they solve challenges and work on projects devised in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Creativity flourishes in our colourful art and design building, where students of all ages express their artistic talents. A dedicated gallery area, dark room, animation suite, and ceramics room with a kiln provide the spaces and mediums through which our young artists can pursue passions and shape futures. Our performing arts students also shine in our drama and theatre studios, which are hubs for ideas, imagination, and creative thinking, while our well-equipped music rooms connect learners with sound, rhythm, and song.

Sport and physical activity are also an integral part of the student experience at BSK. Your child will make the most of our full-sized swimming pool, covered multi-sports areas, and tennis courts, developing their coordination, movement, and motor skills. Our sports facilities are not only spaces where talents blossom, they’re also environments where students learn the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship, and positive physical and mental health.
