Stretch and Challenge Day in the Middle Phase is always a highly anticipated event, designed to spark students' curiosity and inspire them to explore beyond the usual curriculum. This year's activities were no exception, offering a diverse range of engaging experiences that pushed students to think creatively, collaborate effectively, and discover new passions.
Year 6: Building Bridges and Dreams Year 6 students embraced their inner engineers with a series of exciting STEAM challenges. They tackled the task of designing and building bridges and towers, learning about structural integrity, design principles, and the importance of teamwork. The students' creativity and problem-solving skills were on full display as they worked together to construct impressive structures. Adding to the inspiration of the day, Year 6 welcomed Muneera Al Jeeran, a former BSK student, who shared her personal journey from the classroom to her current professional successes. Muneera's story served as a powerful reminder of the possibilities that await them and encouraged the students to pursue their dreams with confidence. Our thanks to Muneera for her time, and for inspiring all our Year 6 students to follow their dreams!
Year 7: From F1 Racers to Forensic Scientists Year 7 students experienced a blend of high-octane excitement and meticulous investigation. Those involved in the F1 in Schools project dedicated their day to preparing for the upcoming race day. Teams worked diligently on their miniature race cars, fine-tuning their designs, strategizing for the competition, and honing their teamwork skills. Our Year 7 students also transformed into forensic scientists, delving into a simulated crime scene. They used their scientific knowledge and critical thinking skills to analyse evidence, piece together clues, and solve the mystery. This experience provided a fascinating glimpse into the world of forensic science and highlighted the importance of observation and deduction.
Year 8: Exploring Career Pathways Year 8 students embarked on a journey of career exploration, gaining valuable insights into a wide range of professions. Thanks to the generous support of the BSK community and professionals from across Kuwait, students had the opportunity to hear from leaders in their respective fields. These professionals shared their personal journeys, from their school days to their current roles, offering invaluable advice and inspiring the students to consider the many career paths available to them. The day provided a fantastic platform for students to connect with professionals, ask questions, and gain a better understanding of the world of work.
Stretch and Challenge Day proved to be a resounding success, sparking curiosity, innovation, and broadening horizons for all Middle Phase students. The diverse range of activities allowed students to discover new talents, explore different fields, and develop essential skills that will serve them well in the future. It was a day filled with excitement, learning, and inspiration, leaving a lasting impression on all who participated.
