BSK can boast many talented musicians across all musical genres and on Monday 16 February 2025 it was the turn of the musicians who have an interest in all things Jazz to wow us with a wonderful concert in the Shakespeare Theatre. Featuring the BSK Jazz Band and weaving in soloists from within the group, the music was of an extremely high standard and hugely entertaining. Mr Ed Mayo has led these students in their Jazz development and the standards have never been higher (pun intended!). The Jazz Band consisted of: Saxophones - Lucas Van De Louw, Samuele De Paoli, Sireen Abujabeen and Adam Harb Clarinet - Shreya Argarwal Euphonium - James Leonard Trumpet - Mr Ed Timershin Flute - Lamar Abu Jabain, Maryam Abu Rouss and Eunseo Jeong Piano - Seung Yeon Han and Dylara Marzouk Drums - Mr Ed Mayo Bass - Mr James White. As an ensemble they performed: Mercy Mercy Mercy, Las Vegas Tango, Slice and Dice, Sails, Tokyo Blues, Jean Pierre, A Typical Spanish Choon and St Thomas. The wonderful soloists performed the following: Lucas (Three Piece Suite), Samuele (Latin Sketch), Sireen (Saxequential), Faustina Ratnasingham (Indigo Mood) Abhay Nair (Swing Thing) and Lamar (I Got Rhythm and Someone to Watch Over Me). It really was a wonderful afternoon concert showcasing the immense talent that BSK students have at their disposal.
