Application Process

To maintain the position of The British School of Kuwait (BSK) as a centre of excellence it is essential that the students who gain admission meet standards that enable them to gain as much as possible from their learning experiences. We aim to make the process of finding out about our school and applying for a place for your child as straightforward as possible and we hope you find the information within this section useful.

New Registrations

Parents and students who are considering joining BSK may request a tour of our Salwa campus. Tours can be arranged by contacting the Admissions Officer (AO). When parents contact the school they will be asked for the age of the child, and what their interests are, so that a relevant tour route can be planned.

The colleagues involved in the admissions process will be on hand to help and advise prospective parents throughout the application process. The various steps of the process are as follows:

STEP ONE

In the first instance parents of prospective students are kindly requested to contact our Admissions Team. This can be via email, by telephone or in person

Email: admissions@bsk.edu.kw
Telephone: +965 1830456 (Extension 1165)
Physical Address: Street 1, Area 1, Salwa, Kuwait

STEP TWO

The AO will require some basic documentation, including the personal details page of the child's passport and a copy of their most recent school report.

The AO will book an entrance test for the year group being applied for. For Primary students these tests are specially designed by BSK. For older students wishing to enter Year 6 to Year 11, age-specific Cognitive Ability Testing (CAT) is used. Applications to join Year 12 or 13 are processed in line with the published entry criteria for admission into those year groups.

The AO will also make contact with the relevant Assistant Head Teacher Pastoral (AHT) in order to inform them of the application.

It should be noted that it is not possible for students to join Year 11 unless they have completed year one of the appropriate two-year GCSE/IGCSE courses.  It is not possible for students to join Year 13 unless they have completed year one (AS) of the appropriate two-year Advanced Level courses.

STEP THREE

Once the entrance testing has been conducted and the results processed, prospective parents will be contacted with a decision by the AO or the relevant AHT.

STEP FOUR

For students that are offered a place at BSK, the next step will be to complete the online registration form, provide any required documentation and pay the registration fees. Parents will be guided through this process by the Admissions Team.

Re-registrations

Early in Term 3, parents of students already registered at BSK will receive notification of the deadline for re-registration.

Should a parent fail to re-register a student before the deadline, BSK cannot guarantee a place. As places at the school are in high demand, we urge parents to re-register early to avoid disappointment.

For the convenience of parents, the re-registration process takes place entirely online, with the Registrar's Office available to assist as required.
