At The British School of Kuwait, we offer a world-class British education to students aged from 4 to 18. Our innovative approach expertly combines an extensive UK curriculum, an exceptional breadth of extra-curricular opportunities, and the very best pastoral care. This unlocks each student’s potential, inspiring them to excel both academically and personally.

WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO

The British School of Kuwait (BSK) delivers an outstanding British education to students from more than 75 countries.

We set the highest standards, and our academic curriculum features an unparalleled choice of IGCSE, AS, and A Level subjects, innovative teaching methods, and truly personalised learning. Our students’ education is enriched further by exciting collaborations with world-leading organisations like the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and UNICEF, as well as a firm commitment to local cultures through our Arabic, Islamic studies, and social studies programmes.

Every day, learning stretches beyond the classroom, too, through a range of extra-curricular opportunities. And with student wellbeing at the heart of every child’s education, our all-encompassing British international school successfully nurtures the thinkers, innovators, and leaders of tomorrow.

OVER 45 YEARS OF EXCELLENCE AND INNOVATION

The British School of Kuwait’s origins can be traced back to 1978, when Mme Vera and Mr Sadiq Al-Mutawa founded a small kindergarten, The Sunshine School, for nursery and pre-school children.

The school soon gained an excellent reputation, growing to more than 550 kindergarten and primary-aged children by 1992. To cater for the increase in student numbers – and to expand our provision to include older learners – we moved to what is now our current site in Salwa. Renamed The British School of Kuwait (BSK), we re-opened our doors to 900 students in September 1993.

Today, BSK provides an extensive British international school education to students aged from 4 to 18. We’re committed to excellence and innovation, and offer an exceptional breadth of learning experiences. We also live and breathe our values of Respect, Resilience, Honesty, Empathy, and Courage. Combined, our ethos ensures we create a high-performing yet supportive environment that unlocks each student’s full potential.

WHAT MAKES OUR SCHOOL SPECIAL

Academic Excellence: All students at BSK are encouraged to be ambitious in the pursuit of academic excellence. Creating an environment in which students are inspired in their learning and in which their ambitions are nurtured is at the heart of everything we do. Whether they be developing their skills in the Early Years Foundation Stage or they are in Year 13, preparing for their final A Level examinations, our students benefit from endless opportunities to stretch and challenge themselves intellectually. Our teachers are committed to ensuring that the talents of the children under their care are fostered and developed to their fullest potential.

Extracurricular Excellence: BSK offers students of all ages an impressive range of enriching extracurricular activities. Whether their interests lie in pursuing sporting excellence, developing their artistic abilities, honing their debate skills, undertaking internationally recognised programmes such as the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, or exploring a host of science and technology related interests, such as the F1 in Schools Technology Challenge, there really is something for everyone. The breadth of opportunities open to them are further supplemented by the programmes on offer through our affiliate organisations the British Academy of International Arts (BAIA) and the British Academy of Sport (BAS).

Personal And Social Excellence: BSK places great emphasis upon the development of the whole person. We are firm in our belief that strength of character and personal qualities are equally important as academic excellence and extracurricular achievements. Through strong pastoral care and a wide range of leadership roles, our students have a wealth of opportunities to develop their skills of communication, teamwork and leadership capabilities within a truly international environment. As such our students are not only focused, determined and resilient learners but, most importantly of all, they are tolerant, compassionate and empathetic young people.
