INSPIRING EXCELLENCE, NURTURING WELLBEING

Our Junior Phase students (Years 3-5) follow the National Curriculum of England. Broad and balanced, our extensive British programme offers the balance of academic rigour and personalised pastoral care your child needs to thrive.

Guided by their teachers, our students enjoy engaging cross-curricular experiences that develop their knowledge in English, maths, science, PSHE, humanities, ICT, art, music, PE, design and technology, French, Kuwait social studies (Year 5), Arabic, and, for our Muslim students, Islamic studies and Quranic studies.

A breadth of opportunities enrich the curriculum, from school trips and cultural celebrations to themed days and sports. We’ll encourage your child to take on leadership responsibilities, too. This includes becoming a ‘Playground Pal’ or joining our Junior Phase Council.

OUR YEAR 3 CURRICULUM

During the first year of Key Stage 2, subjects such as science, humanities, art, and ICT are carefully linked to English and maths to create rich learning contexts and interdisciplinary opportunities.

Humanities topics, including Weather Around the World and Ancient Egypt, inspire our children to explore, discover, and find out more about the people around them, both past and present. In science, topics such as Healthy Living, Light and Shadow, and Magnets encourage experimentation and investigation. Students also study French from Year 3, which broadens their language acquisition and communication skills.

In English and maths, our learners reflect on the progress they’ve made by setting personalised targets. These goals are shared with parents throughout the year, strengthening home-school partnerships.

We encourage creativity, and music lessons give our children the chance to learn multiple instruments. They go on to showcase their talents at concerts and by joining our development orchestra.

KEY STAGE 2

OUR YEAR 4 CURRICULUM

In Year 4, our Key Stage 2 students build on their early achievements, as they immerse themselves in cross-curricular activities that grow their subject knowledge and inspire a love of learning.

In humanities, for example, our children learn about rainforests and the ‘Ruthless Romans’. They do this through immersive experiences, including themed dress-up days. In science, topics such as Inside Out (Animals and Humans), It’s Electrifying (Electricity), and What’s the Matter? (States of Matter) bring key concepts to life.

By the end of Year 4 of our Junior Phase, our students are fluent in their fundamental maths multiplication and division tables. Reading is an essential part of our curriculum, and children enjoy a breadth of fact and fictional texts, such as 'The King Who Banned the Dark'.

OUR YEAR 5 CURRICULUM

Our oldest Junior Phase students are role models who demonstrate our school values, take on leadership positions, and learn increasingly independently.

Our children grow their love for reading through class novels such as Kensuke’s Kingdom, Street Child, and Runaway Robot. In maths, a variety of challenging activities, all taught within a real-world context, deepen their understanding of key topics.

We introduce Kuwait social studies in Year 5, which gives our children opportunities to learn about our country and the Middle East. Classroom experiences are enriched by field trips and days out.

A variety of interdisciplinary projects, including Save Planet Earth, Forces and Space, and the Aztecs span the specialist subjects. Our ever-popular Victorian Day, meanwhile, offers an immersive insight into the life of children more than 100 years ago.

We encourage our students to get active, too, through PE lessons linked to Kuwait Foreign Schools Association Competitions (KFSAC). These include football, basketball, benchball, swimming, and fitness.
